Dunblane Football Club, known as the Heather, was once a force to be reckoned with in Scottish Football. In the club's heday, thousands of spectators crammed into Duckburn Park to see their red-shirted heroes, and special trains would run to away games. For a small town club, Dunblane was extraordinarily successful, winning the Perthshire Cup a dozen times, producing international quality players and notching up a barrowload of goals. sadly, the team faded in the professional era and disbanded in 1914 on the outbreak of the First World War, a conflict which claimed the lives of many of it's players.
